MRS launches In-Company Training

The Market Research Society (MRS) has today announced the launch of In-Company Training - a new initiative designed to improve the professionalism and skills of research practitioners through the provision of easily-accessible training programmes. A number of the UK's leading research agencies have already committed to the scheme.

Flexible in approach, the courses have been designed to allow participating companies to tailor the content of the training to the specific needs of their employees. All training will include practical sessions and will be delivered by trained consultants at the organisations' own premises.

A range of training topics are currently being offered. These include: qualitative and quantitative research; questionnaire design; Internet research; statistics; business-to-business research; marketing; creativity; data protection; and presentation skills. In addition, The MRS can offer companies an organisation-wide comprehensive training needs analysis, skills profiling and competency framework development. Other training provisions are available on request.

Keelyn Dearlove, Senior Training and Development Executive, Martin Hamblin GfK, which was amongst the first agencies to pilot In-Company Training commented, "We held an in-company training session on Questionnaire Design which proved to be most effective. We were able to tailor the course to suit our needs, and it meant that company-specific information could be kept within the confines of the office. The trainer was excellent and we will definitely use this cost-effective approach again."

The In-Company training provision incorporates a pre-meeting to establish precise requirements; course materials, including handouts and practical exercises; as well as a post-course review meeting, if required.
