Date: 1 April 2007

The call for entries to the prestigious MRS Research Excellence & Effectiveness Awards and MRS Research magazine awards 2007 are now open.

Now in its fourth year, the Research Excellence and Effectiveness Awards, which will again include the Research magazine awards, continues to go from strength to strength. The prestigious awards, which promotes outstanding achievement, innovation and excellence in research, is calling for submissions. The ceremony, which is to be held on 10 December 2007 at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London will be hosted by BBC news broadcaster Riz Lateef.

This year the awards continue to evolve and adapt to reflect current trends. As a result, a new award, the MRS Applications of Research Award, has been introduced to reflect the importance that research can have on decision making. Elsewhere the awards continue to focus on the traditional values of best practice in high quality, bespoke business-to-business and social research.

The winners of the annual MRS Research 2007: Research Conference Awards, shortlisted at the conference on 23 March, will also be announced at the dinner.

Professor Michael Thomas, Chair of the Awards Judging Panel, comments, “This year the Research Excellence and Effectiveness Awards aims to highlight the critical role market, opinion and social research plays in business, commerce and the public sector. We expect to receive hundreds of excellent submissions, all displaying the high level of accuracy and quality that make this industry indispensable. We have again united with the Research magazine awards to ensure that this is the premier stage for celebrating the significant and growing successes of market research.”

Editor of Research magazine and Chair of the Research magazine awards, Marc Brenner, also comments on the importance of this years awards. “The growing size and profile of the awards reflects the increasingly valuable relationship market, social and opinion research enjoys with business and the public sector. The awards will continue to recognise excellent practice as well as celebrating research that not only provides data but adds value to the clients decision making process.”

Professor Thomas adds, “This year has been one of creativity and change in market research and we hope the awards will respond and reflect the growing needs of the industry and their clients, praising those researchers and organisations who have learnt to adapt to new changes in technology and the demands of their clients and stakeholders.”
