How can I find a research agency, consultant or viewing facility?

Selecting the right market research agency or consultant is an important part of the research process. The Newcomers' Guide (PDF 27KB, PDF Help) gives guidance on how to choose the right supplier.

Research Buyer's Guide

MRS publishes the Research Buyer's Guide. This directory has information on over 700 companies, consultants, viewing facilities and fieldwork agencies offering market research and related services throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland. It includes details of research markets, services and locations (including overseas), senior contacts and an overview of each organisation's activities. It includes an index of the research methods used by the companies.

Research buyers can use RBG-listed suppliers confident in the knowledge that they employ at least one Full Member of MRS who ensures compliance with the MRS Code of Conduct.

You can also search the Research Buyer's Guide online (www.theresearchbuyersguide.com), which as well as searchable up to-date listings also offers a Bulletin Board to display potential research projects. There is no charge for using the online directory.

  • The Independent Consultants Group (ICG) produce an online directory of independent consultants which can be searched via their website (www.indepconsultants.org).

  • The Association for Qualitative Research (www.aqr.org.uk) publishes a directory for qualitative research.

  • BIG publish an online Guide to b2b research suppliers, which can be searched via their website at www.b2bresearch.org (select 'BIG Guide').

  • The Viewing Facilities Association (VFA) lists VFA members with facilities which meet VFA and MRS quality standards. (www.viewing.org.uk)

  • The MRWeb site (www.mrweb.com) has a section on suppliers, which includes international company information.

  • ESOMAR provides a searchable directory of research agencies worldwide (www.esomar.org)

  • AEMRI MR Selector allows you to search for an agency worldwide (www.aemri.org)

  • IMRI's Market-Research.net website (www.market-research.net) has the International Directory of Market Research Organisations available to search.

  • The American Marketing Association publishes the Green Book (www.greenbook.org), a list of market research and focus group companies and services.
