BIG Conference May 2007
Challenging the Status Quo

"Challenging the Status Quo was the theme of this year’s BIG conference at the St. Pierre conference centre in South Wales. Numbers were up this year – the keynote speakers (Ray Poynter, Virtual Surveys on Web 2:0 and Guy Browning of Guardian fame) evidently proving an attraction.

They were well supported by good paper sessions covering B2B Innovation, Clientside Relationships, Innovation and Creativity in the Workplace and other topics as well as training workshops led by industry experts on deliberative qualitative methods, the Delphi method and the role of computers. The social programme was led by the sponsored golf on the Wednesday, a tennis tournament on the Thursday (a high standard this year!) and various entertainments including the Conference Dinner.

In all, it was agreed by all to be one of the best conferences people had attended. As a client from BT said “I really enjoyed BIG”. That is what we want – lots of enjoyment and real debate. Now we are thinking of next year…"

What the delegates said

"By far and away the most enjoyable, rewarding and profitable event I have attended." (first timer)

"It was very friendly and open. Good organisation. Liked the fact that people tried to include you." (first timer)

"I really like the residential aspect, as it maximises the value of networking, without needing to skip conference sessions. Having it in London, you would lose that." (research buyer)

"I think that the conference is great overall. It helps me come up with new ideas which makes it worth coming." (regular attendee)

"I thought was the best BIG conference I have attended and I have attended more than 10 of them." (regular attendee)
