Small Area Geography - Planning for the FutureMonday 5th February 2007 1.30-5pm This meeting is being held by the MRS Census and Geodemographics Group (CGG), in order to give you an opportunity to contribute your views on the future National Statistics small area geography policy for England and Wales. As part of its planning process for the 2011 Census, the ONS is currently consulting with stakeholders and users of the Census, Neighbourhood Statistics and other small area data. Full details about the consultation may be obtained from www.onsgeography.net – which also permits users to respond on-line and take part in a ‘blog’. The purpose of this meeting will be to discuss the ONS proposals, put forward views and help to shape the response that the CGG will be making on behalf of MRS. The CGG’s initial view is that ONS needs to do more to address a number of key issues for the geodemographic community. It will be particularly important to attend if you are using small area data in market research, geodemographics, site location or other commercial fields, or if you expect to be a user in the future. The seminar will have a new format for the CGG, with numbers limited so that all participants have the opportunity to join in a ‘round table’ discussion. There will be no charge for the first of what we intend to be a new series to cover key developments. It will be chaired by Dr Barry Leventhal, who also chairs the CGG. Barry is the director of advanced analytics for NCR Teradata in the UK. TimingsRegistration and Coffee: 13.30 FeesNo charge, however advance registration and acceptance are required. The number of attendees will be limited, and so registrations will be accepted on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Programme
