IJMR Call for Papers - Market Research in Recesion

What does economic turmoil mean for the market research industry; what is the impact on methodologies, applications, structure? How will the industry look once the economic cycle starts to turn from down to up? What are the lessons from recessions of the past? 

IJMR welcomes submissions under all three categories of content: formal papers, Forum articles and Viewpoints and would particularly welcome submissions that include case studies in order to provide examples to other researchers of how issues have been addressed from a practical perspective. Updated Regulations for Use of Predictive Diallers

Following a consultation in December 2007, Ofcom issued a revised Statement of Policy on the persistent misuse of an electronic communications network or service on 10 September 2008. MRS has revised its Regulations on the Use of Predictive Diallers to match these procedures.

Consultation on standard text for Thank you leaflets

From January 2009, only MRS Company Partners will be permitted to provide MRS IID cards to non-MRS member interviewers. As part of this policy, MRS Company Partners will also have to use a standard text on Thank you leaflets used in conjunction with MRS IID cards. MRS is now seeking views on this proposed standard text.

Research Awards 2008 - Shortlist announced

The MRS has unveiled an impressive line-up of finalists for this year’s Research Awards – after receiving the highest ever number of entries. The winners will be announced during the Research Awards – the industry’s annual celebration of success - which is taking place on 8 December 2008 at The Royal Lancaster Hotel, Hyde Park, London. IJMR Research Methods Forum

The International Journal of Market Research is celebrating its 50th anniversary as the leading international journal for market research practitioners and academics with an interest in this field. As part of this celebration, the IJMR Research Methods Forum is being launched.  The one-day conference, which will take place in London on 25th November 2008, will be the first UK event to focus on the methodological challenges facing the research sector. It will provide a forum for debating the issues and discussing solutions.

New regulations for Administering Incentives and Free Prize Draws

These regulations update a guidance note issued by MRS in May 2000. Following the enactment of the Gambling Act 2005, the law in this area, though practically unchanged, has been significantly clarified. The Act’s provisions came in to force in October 2007. Read the regulations.
